A Farmer and His Harvest

For the second year in a row, we volunteered at the Family Fall Festival at First Christian Church in Santa Maria.  This year we were in charge of "Donut Bites".  By far one of the more entertaining games to host.

Supplies: Strings hanging from a high place, donuts, pipe cleaners tied to end of string (holds the donut)
Purpose: Eat a donut hanging on a string without using your hands
Most popular strategies:  (1) Peck at the donut like a bird.  Donut will swing away and hit you in the face on the way back.  Powdered donuts will create a puff cloud.  (2) Use your tongue.  Mostly unsuccessful, and created a very gooey donut.  (3)  Attack the donut from the bottom.  Very successful, but often led to donut particles on costume and in hair.

We couldn't tell who the game was more entertaining for...the kids struggling to eat the donuts or the parents watching their kids pecking at a donut.

Note about our costumes:  I think most people were confused since the pumpkin hid my pregnant belly, but our friends that knew there was a baby bump understood the theme.  Originally, I wanted to wear a pumpkin shirt, but when we couldn't find one I settled for a small dog costume :)
