#3 Kite flying on a less windy day

#1   Prune Juice Shots: Winners of “Up and Down the River” had to drink a shot of prune juice.  Kevin and Dad were the lucky consumers.

#2   Seeing friends and family over the weekend

 

#3   Kite flying in 60+mph wind gusts in the desert

Nana’s version to her friends:  The kite picked Kevin up (20+ feet in the air), and he landed on a street 1 mile away, Drew chasing him the entire way.  Basically, Kevin was the latest “Balloon Boy”.

Actual story: A wind gust picked Kevin off the ground 6-7 feet and took him 20 feet, then was dragged on the ground 10-15 feet before he let go of the kite.  Leaving Kevin on the ground, Drew chased the kite until it was stopped by a palm tree at a near by golf course.  Injuries: gravel in wounds on knee, hip, hands and shoulder.

#6 "The Slots"

#5   Polka dancing while 7-1/2 months pregnant 

#6   Hiking through the “Slots” in Borrego Springs: a narrow canyon, carved over the years by the force of flash floods.

#7   Timing the fastest route to the hospital (Regardless of the route it takes ~35 minutes)

Attempt 1: Stopped by 2 trains (delayed 7 minutes)

Attempt 2: Exploring a new route, we missed the exit (delayed 10 minutes)

Attempt 3: Slowed down by a driver not familiar with the back roads (delayed 5 minutes)

#8   Watching Drew stack the diapers he received at his “Diaper Invitational” Frisbee Tournament

Drew: “Dad, the Dark-eyed Junko’s are here.”

Shanna: “Drew, I’m worried you’re becoming racist.”

Drew: (confused) “Mom, I’m talking about the birds at the feeder.”

Shanna: (laughs) “Oh…”
