Parenthood is...

·      eating meals quickly because you have a lot to get done while the baby is content without being held.
·      learning to be content with a less than clean house.
·      lying in bed at 4am and hearing the baby making his “happy sounds”.  Do I go in and encourage him to “laugh” and smile or ignore him and hope he falls asleep on his own?
·      putting the laundry away just in time to do it again and sometimes it never gets put away.
·      having a clean house only after parents come and visit (Thank you!).
·      feeling like some days all that gets done is feeding that baby and changing diapers (record so far is 3 diapers during one changing and 4 diapers in one hour).
·      deciding whether to sleep when the baby sleeps or attempt to get some chores done (like cook dinner).
·      not caring about the time change because sleeping-in is a thing of the past, and the baby doesn’t care about daylight savings time starting or ending.
·      cleaning up spit-up off yourself, multiple pillows, and the baby (but not the burp cloth) at 3am.
·      wondering if your baby is any cleaner after a bath that was pooped and peed in (and dried off in a towel that was also pooped in).
·      taking pictures of every move or facial expression that your baby makes.
·      marveling in the creation of a miniature person and wondering what God was thinking when He entrusted you with a precious individual.
·      cherishing every moment of the baby’s life as he experiences the world for the first time.

Lord, teach us to lean into you for wisdom and strength to raise Callen.

“How can a young man keep his way pure?  By living according to your word.  I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands.  I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you…Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.”
Psalm 119: 9-11; 105

Oh, Car! I am praying for the Miller clan! and trust that God knew what he was doing in picking you and Drew to be Callen's parents :)
