~rolling from back to tummy (kickstand keeps him from continuing the rolling motion)
New Games:
~Banging toys into the ground
~Rolling onto tummy, then grunting in frustration
~Dropping toys on the ground when not done playing with them
Milestones:
Call us crazy parents, but we are almost positive that Callen has learned the sign for milk! We first saw him imitate a sign that looked similar to “milk” back in June, but we didn’t think much of it since we hadn’t been signing more than a couple of weeks. He has repeatedly used the “milk” sign to tell us when he is hungry (not at every meal, but usually once a day). Only twice has he signed and not eaten a full meal. A hand full of times during July he refused to eat during the “scheduled” time, and about an hour later he signed for milk, ready to eat without a fuss. Or signed to eat before the next feeding.
Favorite Toy: Hands and toes
Daily Routine:
Same as last month: Eat, Wake, Sleep with about 3 naps during the day and 5 feedings
Arms are un-swaddled during sleep times (except when in a “strange” napping place or unusually fussy).
Likes to hear the piano being played as he falls asleep.
As he fights sleep, he scoots himself up to the top of the crib and covers his face with his blanket bear.
When awake he rotates himself 90 degrees so that his feet are pushing against the slats of the crib. I hear him cooing and kicking the slats.

Second heart stopping moment of the month:
Looking in his crib during his nap and not seeing him! It was the first time he had scooted to the top of the crib, and his bear mobile was blocking my view of him. For a split second I panicked.
Funny moments:
~Watching Callen splash violently during bathtime and trying to reach for his toys
~Seeing ~5 boys (10 and under) pile into Callen's half-tent to "baby sit" during dinner time at Family Camp
~Giggles on the swings (takes a deep breath while swinging away, then sequels, kicks, and closes his eyes when coming towards me)
~Laughing while watching Drew catch the Frisbee on the beach (lasted for about 3/4 mile)
~Watching his face as he tries new foods
Goals for next month:
~Continuing with the ASL signs (more…)
~Continue with solid foods at lunch and dinner
~Establish structured playtimes (alone, with mom, within boundaries, etc.)More pictures under "Links"
