Laughter
There are a few things better than a baby’s laugh. Who knows why he thinks certain things are funny. But here are a few that will always get laughs: putting my hair over my face then peaking at him, tickling him, scaring him, Drew’s duck quacking, games with a teddy bear, kisses, bouncing a ball off of his face/body (it’s not cruel if he loves it), looking in the mirror or other babies…
Type of laughs: high pitch squeals, rapid breathing (like he’s hyperventilating), or full breath cackle
His laugh is contagious.
Noises
~The Pterodactyl call (high pitch breathing in sound)
~Gargling drooling in his throat
~Pushing air through his front teeth (mouth closed)
~The ventriloquist (an odd clucking sound without moving his mouth)
~The Japanese silent film (moving his mouth as if talking without sound coming out)
Foods
~Carrots, green beans, zucchini, sweet potato
~Mango, apples, plums, peaches, watermelon, blueberries, bananas
Fun Moments
~Watching Callen swing in his jumper: two hops forward, pick up feet, swing backward, two hops forward, etc. Then crashing into the side of the door.
~Watching Callen study the movements of other babies
~Hearing him laugh in Carter's (What at? Best we could tell it was at the pictures of babies all around.)
Movement
~Rolling everywhere (pack’n play blocks the stairs)
~Trying hard to get hips off the ground
~Pushes himself backwards on stomach
~Sits up unasissted
Sign Language
~No doubt in our minds that he understands “milk”. Sometimes we sign “milk” just to see what he does…it’s entertaining.
~He gets really excited when I ask him if he wants to “jump”, but it’s still too early to tell if he understands.
~He doesn’t understand “eat”, “more”, or “diaper change”…but we’ll keep trying.
