~We think he can sign “jump”, but he’s only done it a few times…so maybe not?
~He doesn’t understand “eat”, “more”, or “diaper change”…but we’ll keep trying.
Structured Playtime
I got tired of chasing him down all day as he rolls from danger zone to danger zone, so I’ve introduced the Pack’n Play! Hated it the first couple of days, and still hates it. But at least he’s not crying anymore, and I can get some stuff done around the house.
Here’s how it works (activities are in 20-30 minute intervals and end when the timer goes off, not because he’s crying):
~Alone time in Pack’n Play. I place him sitting up near the sliding glass door (so he can’t see me).
~Jumper. For those that have seen him in it…he’s CRAZY.
~Supervised Pack’n Play so he can see me working around the house.
~Free play. Rolling around while I’m sitting/working next to him.
~Cuddle time with Mom: holding, singing, reading, piano, harmonica, etc. usually before and after naps or bedtime.
Its been a week, and he seems to be getting use the routine and understanding that the timer ends the activity…which means less protest crying. But we’ll see how long it lasts.
