Pinterest Pin to Birthday Gift

I love the invention of Pinterest.  Aside from wasting too much time pinning and looking at posts, I've made several projects for myself and others.

The week before my Mom's birthday, she was busy pinning ideas for her garden, etc.  And I decided to take one of her posts and actually make it!!

I didn't follow the directions exactly (surprise, surprise), but I used a combination of Pinterest techniques.

Overall inspiration from Vintage Romance
Letter Technique from diddle dumpling
Wood burning idea from my brain

Time:
30 minutes for word creation on Photo Shop,
30 minutes to transfer print onto wood,
2 hours to wood burn letters (painting the letters would probably take about an hour)
1 hour to stain and apply 2 coats of polyurethane (over 2 days to allow for drying)

Since I am pregnant and watching Callen, I did the project over a week's time during his naps.

Font I used: MS Pony, size 150 in Photo Shop.  Used mirror print and transferred lettering as described in diddle dumpling.

Wood burned letters, no stain:

Final product with stain and polyurethane:

The lighting in my hallway makes the stain look yellow, but it looks a lot better under natural light.

Finished size: 2.5 feet by 10 inches (not including space for branch to hang)
