Nursery Rhymes, Revisited (Part 2)

The Evolution of The Three Little Pigs

Version 1:  The Big Bad Wolf blows over two of the pigs’ houses made of straw and sticks.  At the pig’s house made of brick he falls down the chimney into a cooking pot and scurries away.  And was never see from again. (At least until he crossed paths with Little Red Riding Hood, or did he terrorize Grandma before he got to the pigs?)

Version 2:  The Big Bad Wolf blows over two of the pigs’ houses made of straw and sticks.  At the pig’s house made of brick he falls down the chimney into a cooking pot, and all three pigs eat him for dinner.  (How’s that for revenge?)

Version 3:  The Big Bad Wolf blows over two of the pigs’ houses made of straw and sticks, but before proceeding to the next house he eats each pig.  At the pig’s house made of brick he falls down the chimney into a cooking pot, and the remaining pig eats him for dinner.  (Not sure how satisfying this would be…)

And then, of course, there is the story from the Wolf’s perspective which has always made me wonder:  if version 2 or 3 is true, how is the Wolf still alive to tell his story?
