Pastor. Martyr. Prophet. Spy.

I can't remember when I started reading Bonhoeffer (over a year ago, maybe?), but the weekend of my birthday, I FINISHED.  Whew!  Not only was it fascinating to read the letters, journal entries, and sermons from a wealthy, non-Jewish German opposed to Hitler, but the parallels to current events were equally engaging.

There are so many good quotes that can be pulled from Bonhoeffer's writings...I'll have to save them for another time.  (Bonhoeffer and Lewis are my favorite theologians to quote.)  I'll leave you with one:

"Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless.  Not to speak is to speak.  Not to act is to act."
